The Concept
What is a glass cabin?
A glass cabin — sometimes called a glass igloo or mirror cabin — is a small luxury lodge whose walls are made almost entirely of glass. The idea was born in Lapland: instead of going out into the cold to watch the sky, the landscape comes to you. Bed, armchair, morning coffee — everything faces the wilderness.
At Sameland Retreat the glass is mirrored from the outside. From the forest, the cabins disappear into the trees like reflections on water. From the inside, you have an unobstructed panoramic view of lake, forest and sky — in complete privacy, with underfloor heating, climate control and a rain shower.
Unlike the classic glass igloos of Finland, our cabins are full-size retreats with a queen-size bed, a premium mattress loft for children, a fully equipped bathroom and a private outdoor terrace. Two adults and two children sleep comfortably in each cabin.

From September to March, the Northern Lights dance directly above the retreat. Watch the Aurora Borealis from your warm bed, then spend your days with huskies, snowmobiles and ice fishing on the frozen lake.

- A glass cabin is a compact luxury lodge with floor-to-ceiling glass walls — sometimes called a glass igloo or mirror cabin. At Sameland Retreat the glass is mirrored on the outside, so you see the wilderness in full panorama while remaining completely private.
- Can you see the Northern Lights from a glass cabin?
- Yes. Swedish Lapland lies directly under the auroral oval. From September to March the Aurora Borealis is regularly visible from your bed at Sameland Retreat — far from any light pollution, with unobstructed views of the northern sky.
- When is the best time to visit Swedish Lapland?
- Winter (November–March) brings deep snow, Northern Lights and husky adventures. Summer (June–August) brings the midnight sun, glassy lakes and endless golden evenings. Both seasons are extraordinary — it simply depends on which Arctic you dream of.
- How do I get to Sameland Retreat?
- The retreat sits just minutes from Arvidsjaur in Swedish Lapland. Arvidsjaur Airport (AJR) has direct connections; from there it is a short transfer to the retreat. Despite the wilderness setting, restaurants, shops and local life are close by.
